The Okanagan- My Home

This is why I love BC and most specially my home, the beautiful Okanagan Valley, so much.  This time of the year, cherry season is in full bloom, as are fresh picked blueberries and raspberries.   The Okanagan offers an abundance of fresh fruit beginning early Summer (depending on weather) to late Fall, offering crisp varitites of apples and juicy Okanagan peaches.

The Okanagan is not only about fresh fruit and vegetables, it’s also offers prime recreation, from waterskiing to winter sports, offering first class Ski Resorts.

Above photo is a waterfall quietly nestled in the forest along your way to Mable Lake, in the Shuswap Region.

We would always fish the Shuswap River, catching Dolly Varden, Rainbow Trout, while feasting on wild Saskatoon berries.  The Shuswap River, Mable Lake and various waterfalls are via Enderby or otherwise past Lumby (west of Vernon, BC) Living in Vernon at the time, we took the Lumby route most of the time.

Kelowna is considered central, easy access to the North and South Okanagan.

I was raised in Vernon, went to VSS ( Vernon Senior Secondary) then off to Okanagan College (only had one back then) in Kelowna. Kelowna was always the hub of activity while Vernon, Lumby, Shuswap and the Kootenays were considered our Outdoor Exploration Treks. Lumby used to be the place for loggers and basically some pretty rough characters, while Vernon was always this slumber quiet town with a close net community.

My parents owned the Spudnut Shop ( Spudnuts are potatoe made doughnuts that would always melt in your mouth) on Main Street in Vernon. Brought up in the life of working in a restaurant taught me the long hours of hard work. Trust me when I say, restaurant life is hard hard work. But it does have its awards too.

Be sure to put the Okanagan on your bucketlist if you haven’t experienced as of  yet.

Go in the summer months and experience the fresh fruits home grown, enjoy the abundance of select dining or luncheon adventures, take in the water activities at Kal and Okanagan Lake and by all means, go hiking and explore the vast beauty of British Columbia – the Okanagan, my home.

Oh – I forgot to mention.

If you enjoy snow skiing ( like I do) try Silver Star Mountain and Big White during the winter months.   Plus, if you’re an avid golfer, the Okanagan has countless beautiful golf courses.  My favourite is Predator Ridge. Not an avid golfer, but I have played a few times.

It would not be right if I didn’t mention, the Okanagan is home to world class wine vineyards, dotted throughout the prestine Valley.

This Summer, make the Okanagan Valley your next vacation spot.

Art Posters and Movies

Sometimes I have the inspiration to make a quick poster of an upcoming movie.  Alien Covenant is expected to come to theatres in August 2017.   After the movie Prometheus, Ridley Scott has decided to continue the triology of Alien.  I expect it will be Ridley Scott’s version of the origin of mankind.

For those who have followed me on WordPress – Dreams and Reality, you’ll already know of my screenplay, BLACK ANGELS – the origin of mankind, written back in 2003 with rewrites up to 2015.  My screenplay BLACK ANGELS first promotional draft is now finished and entered into various screenplay contests, to get noticed by either production companies and/or directors.  It’s been my version of the origin of mankind based on archeological findings throughout the history of man.

Ridley Scott is the master of film making, but wouldn’t it be interesting if Tim Burton directed BLACK ANGELS.  Some of the characters for BLACK ANGELS could be played by Keanu Reeves and Ewan McGregor, for example.

Logline:  Drug addict war hero seeks revenge for brother’s death, risking his crew in a mining expedition on planet ALPHA XL-420 for the priceless Red Crystal, essential to saving their species from a deadly virus.

See more of BLACK ANGELS on my website James Montana Scripts.  Please  follow me on Twitter and Facebook for updates.

It’s NOT All About YOU

Aftermath by Bari Demers

Once again, we are sadly reminded of the selfishness of people, either by their believes or narrow-mindedness.

It’s NOT all about YOU.

This week we had such a gifted soul, 22-year-old singer, Christina Grimmie who was tragically killed after signing autographs in Orlando, Florida.  Her life was taken by a selfish fan.   And today, another 50 people were gunned down and killed in a gay night club

It’s a tragedy!

There’s a whole world out there.   Over 7 billion individual souls who want to live in freedom, just like YOU.

Below I wrote this statement on Facebook, in my sadness of our world and how we are becoming cold blooded individuals, seeking only our own selfish greed. Such a terrible week after these human monsters unleashed their selfishness onto the world.

“Such a sad sad world we are living in. My condolences go out to the families and friends of these dear souls whom have lost their life over someone’s radical believes on the gay community.   When is this going to stop ? When will we ever be free of these selfish radical individuals or groups of monsters ?

John Lennon sang,” All we are saying is give peace a chance.”

Why can’t we all just get along together and appreciate the magnitude of different cultures and lifestyles?

It’s NOT all about YOU – It’s about getting along with everyone and appreciate the diversity of “Human Beings” as a whole.

So…I say to YOU open your mind and welcome the world into your arms, bringing LOVE and understanding. Never cast down your neighbour due to your status or belief.
The person next to YOU may so happen to enrich your soul that you never thought was possible.   Free your mind and soul – Become a better person by embracing care and understanding of the person next to YOU

Once again this year, I give my deepest condolences to all those free souls who were placed in harms way due to someone’s radical beliefs.
