My new PS4 Game “ Alien Isolation” has certainly delivered full entertainment along with terrifying fear, running from Aliens, rogue killer Androids and desperate human beings, who are willing to shoot first, rather then ask questions.
In the beginning, Ripley’s daughter, Amanda is desperate to find her mother. Fifteen years earlier, Ripley promised Amanda she would return for her 11th birthday, as she started her journey upon the Commercial Towing Vessel Nostromo, an M-Class starfreighter, employed by the Weyland-Yutani company, salvaging millions tons of raw ore.
Unknown to Warrant Officer Ellen Ripley and crew members, Captain Dallas, Executive Officer Kane, Navigator Lambert, Science Officer Ash, and two engineers, Parker and Brett, were about to be thrown into chaos, as they were enforced to investigate a rogue beacon on a orbiting moon called : Acheron, formerly known as LV-426 in2122.
In the movie “Alien” we all know the terrifying truth ; it’s indeed a legendary horror movie.
However, in the “Alien Isolation” storyline, Ripley’s daughter Amanda never hears back from her mother. After Ripley missed her daughter’s birthday, Amanda vowed to become an employee of the Weyland-Yutani company, in order to solve the mystery of her missing mother.
In the year 2137 ( if I did my math right ) Amanda is now a Engineer with the Weyland-Yutani company. She’s approached by an android synthetic named Samuels. He informs her the discovery of the flight recorder from the Nostromo starfreighter. Samuels tells her, the flight recorder is now on location at Sevastapol station*, run by Seegson corporation, orbiting the gas giant KG-348.
His task is to personally retrieve the flight recorder for Mr. Weyland, himself, (already, I don’t trust Samuels- lol ). Samuels invites Amanda to come along for the ride, as he already knows Amanda’s eagerness in finding information about her mom, Ripley. Without hesitation, Amanda climbs aboard the ship, Torrens, along with Samuels and crew member, Nina Taylor.
Arriving at the Sevastapol station, communications are down. As well, there’s visible outside damage to the Space Station. All three crew members attempt a daring space walk, when everything goes wrong. There’s a massive explosion, throwing the crew members precariously throughout the wreckage. Amanda barely grabs hold of a piece of the docking Bay Area. She’s safe, but has no idea if Nina or Samuels made it.
She boards the Sevastapol station with reserve hesitation. At first, she’s not sure what’s going on, only that stray personal are willing to shoot at anything that moves.
Throughout the game (playing FIRST PERSON Amanda) I encounter death at least a hundred times before finding real weapons to defend myself. I first find a torque wrench, but eventually have a revolver, that seems to do absolutely nothing to Killer Androids or the fear-gripping Aliens. Three-quarters towards the end of the game, I’m finally in possession of a flame-thrower – yippee! On top of it all, we players get to explore an Alien Derelict.
How awesome is that !

In Conclusion, the graphic programming is sooooo awesome! Every detail has been painstakingly created by clever programmers. They didn’t miss a thing. The storyline is intriguing, extremely scary and the Missions are in itself hard to figure out, which I enjoy figuring out. After all, that’s what gaming is about- right ?
The Game cost me around $40 CA, but is worth every cent.
I waited 6 years to see if the price was going down, but it never did. This game is indeed popular throughout the gaming community, keeping the price moderately higher then most games after just 2 years.
Alien Isolation will indeed test your wit, skill and patience. I’m now on Mission 10, and there’s a lot more to do. As said, I finally found a flame thrower to defend myself from the Aliens. I’ve killed 3, however, these Aliens are smart ass bastards – lol. They’re indeed tricky. In my last attempt, I’m killed for the 125th time – lol.
The photos are from Mission 9 , where we get to explore the Alien Derelict – so cool !

Footnotes:
* Sevastapol station main purpose was to retrieve invaluable minerals, extracted from KG-348
SPOILER ALERT
* * Apparently, it’s been reported the “Sevastopol Station was eventually destroyed by Henry Marlow on Dec 11 when USCSS Anesidora salvage vessel exploded, damaging Sevastopol’s gravity stabilizers and ultimately dooming the station to burn up in the atmosphere of KG-348.” Read more…
