In Nov. 1956, he made his film debut in “Love Me Tender”.
Who was it? Elvis Presley of course!
To think he would have been 80 years old today.
On July 31 1969, Elvis Presley became famous in Vegas during 58 consecutive shows that sold out at the International Hotel (today we know it as the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino).
The Vegas Elvis Presley show performances broke all pervious records. In fact, while in Vegas on Feb. & August of 1970 and once again in 1972, Elvis broke his own records. According to Westgate Las Vegas Resort, Elvis performed 837 consecutive sold out shows.
You may also remember the International Hotel becoming the Las Vegas Hilton, a short term as LVH and today it’s the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino.
What I real love about Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino is easy access to the Las Vegas Monorail and a hop, skip and jump to the Las Vegas Convention Centre.
Las Vegas was and will always be the place to enjoy the best performances by gifted artists, and Elvis was truly the King of Rock and Roll.
Another interesting piece of history is that Elvis lived in Room 3000 – the penthouse suite located on the 30th floor until his last performance in Dec 1972.
You can check out more about the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino on their website.
See you in Vegas!
